A Life Touched

''Your narrative framed my altered state of mind.

    Your lies assaulted truth.

    Sense destroyed, confusion was left.

By stealth your words stole my peace of heart.

Your form of protection took ownership of my life.

Your rules for me to follow, and you to break.

Your construct of fear created invisible chains.

Bars of despair and hopelessness formed around me.

    Isolated, I sat alone.

    A voice whispered - from a still silent place within me that your abuse had not touched;

words floated through my subconscious, gossamer-thin, solidifying and forming.

    I heard them.

From that inner safe space, I saw you... unmasked.

Critically, I thought my way through your smoke screens and mirrors.

To a simple, yet powerful set of beliefs:

    In myself,

    In authentic connections with others,

With clear understanding of the  context around me.

    Your response:

   "That didn't happen.

And if it did, it wasn't that bad.

And if it was, that's not a big deal.

And if it is, that's not my fault.

And if it was, I didn't mean it.

And if I did, you deserved it." (author unknown)

And I turned away and said 'enough is enough', no more.''

My thoughts, my hope for you.
